HASS ELECTED TO SECOND TERM AS MERRILL’S MAYOR

Incumbent Mayor Steve Hass claimed victory in his bid for a second term as Merrill’s Mayor, with the vote tally reflecting a significant defeat of challenger and former mayor Derek Woellner.

In a statement shared with Bluejay 96.3 News following the unveiling of local spring election results, Hass expressed his gratitude. “I am very, very happy with the voter turnout and the win. It was great to see the support of the people and the citizens of Merrill. It is overwhelming to me that this many people came out and supported me and I appreciate it very, very much. I am very thankful for this community and I love this community, and I’m willing to work and do whatever it takes to make this community better.”

First results from the polls showed Hass receiving 1442 votes to Woellner’s 471, with 73 write-in votes also recorded.

Steve Hass was first elected mayor in April of 2022, and will now begin another 4 year term in office following Tuesday’s reported victory.
